Leonard attended the One Room School of Smith Hill-Carley Brook and attended Honesdale HS class of 1943; after graduation he enlisted in the US Army 102nd division and served his Country honorably as Staff Sargent Infantry in Nuremberg Germany. Upon return from the military he continued his Education by enrolling in NY’s Institute of Applied Arts and Science, presently known as BCC. After college he took a job with Link Aviation and then moved to IBM where he was employed as a Quality Control Specialist retiring after 28 years. In retirement he focused on a lifelong passion-rehabilitating the family farm he was born in, loving to puzzle out all the many projects there. Poppy often remarked ‘that he was so busy in retirement he couldn't figure out how he had ever found time to work’. In retirement he became a member of the Wayne County Beekeepers Association, another lifelong passion. Leonard was also very lucky later in life to have the love and support of the Farrell Kennedy Family whose activities and warm relationship enriched his life on a daily basis. We Mourn the Loss of our Poppy/Leonard/Dad and wish for all who knew him to join us at Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale PA. for a Celebration of Life on Thursday, August 15th from 11 to noon when there will be a memorial service.
